SSM College of Engineering was established in 1998 through the persistent efforts of ‘Gnanathandhai’ SSM Subramaniam, an industrial conglomerate.SSM College of Engineering headed by the Chairman ‘Cavalier’ Dr. M. S. Mathivaanan and having placed in the highly industrialized zone of South India, is recognized as one of the best engineering colleges in South India. Our students have prospects of taking part in a noteworthy range of activities through academic courses taught by renowned professors, research and public service opportunities, and an extraordinary breadth of extracurricular activities. The College prepares students to take on the great challenges of the day and become the next generation of leaders under the guidance of Dr. J. Maheswaran, Principal of SSM College of Engineering.
Cavalier’ Dr. M.S.Mathivaanan, Chairman of SSM Group of Institutions, is a versatile and multifaceted personality.
Basically an industrialist hailing from Komarapalayam town, he has achieved many milestones. He has to his credit a vast experience in managing educational institutions and is the forerunner in the establishment of SSM College of Engineering, SSM College of Arts & Science and other institutions of the SSM Group.
He has presented numerous papers in International conferences of which a paper on ‘Engineering Management Education & Social and Philosophical Aspects of Technology & its impact on Modern Society’ at UNESCO International centre for Engineering Education is a notable one.
Chairman
Mr. Indarjith Mathivaanan is the Vice-Chairman of SSM Group of Institutions.
He studied at Montfort school and completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Honors with Business Studies at University of Southampton, United Kingdom. He holds several decisive positions such as Chief Executive Officer of SSM International Academy, Managing Director of Tanext Chemicals, Chief Executive Officer of Caliber Corporation, Belgium, Director of Cavery Clothing Company & Trustee of SSM Educational Trust.
With a vision to enhance overall development of Individual and Institution, he has undertaken visits abroad for promotional activities of SSM Group of Institutions.

Dr. J.Maheswaran is the Principal of SSM College of Engineering.
An Engineer is one who is capable of assuming professional responsibility for the analysis of engineering principles in the solution of problems and able to communicate his ideas clearly, concisely and intelligibly to others. His or her works require the exercise of original thought and judgment and the ability to supervise technical and managerial work of others.
All engineers have a key role to play in the development of the infrastructure in any country in the globe. This key role is not limited to power and energy, water supply, transportation or the environment.

It is a pleasure to Head the Department of CSE which offers NBA accredited UG Programme (BE-CSE) and ME (CSE). The aim of the department is to provide high quality education along with training the students with all the new advancements in the computers field. The department places emphasis on all the important aspects of computers such as High speed networks, mobile networks , Algorithm Design, Operational research, Advance database systems, Theory of computation , Computer Graphics and many more. The department also takes initiative to improve the soft skills, analytical capabilities and verbal communication of the students so that they can face the competition in the corporate world confidently. The scope of computer science is endless. The students of the computer science and engineering are highly demanded by the recruiters of the top companies. The department provides platform for the students to achieve their career goals.
